I’m writing to you in shock at the current administrations actions with regards to the unbridled tariffs that are destroying hardworking Pennsylvanian’s retirement accounts. I’m shocked and appalled at the callous, stupid way in which President Trump has demolished the global trade system, our democratic and historical allies against fascism, the world order over which we presided, based on a sophomoric and limited understanding of Economics. I’m not an economist, and I took only basic economics classes- but watching the President, I’m relatively sure my 5 year old can manage the economy better. This is terrifying to watch- mostly for the seniors who now also have to handle the crippling of the SSA to get them help (I saw 5 people this week in my job as an Emergency Physician unable to get their SSA services due to cuts) but now also a hollowing out of their 401ks. This is a travesty- and congress needs to re-appropriate the power of the purse and of tariffs. If you are unable to show accountability and hold the Executive to task- this action will reverberate among your voters- and I for one, am watching your choices closely.
