Texas is a leader in energy and the Big Beautiful Bill just completely and unnecessarily hampered our leadership in renewables. The Energy Capital HTX (https://energycapitalhtx.com/big-beautiful-bill-clean-energy) is reporting that the bill will cause a 77-gigawatt decrease in power generation capacity in Texas in the next 10 years. This is bad for our energy leadership, it's bad for our ability to attract businesses to Texas, it's bad for the environment, and it's bad for our electricity infrastructure. Renewables are here to stay - we can be a leader in renewable development and deployment or we can let other states and countries take the leads. We need a national renewables strategy that includes government encouragement and investment.
