I urge you to veto the Y25 National Defense Authorization Act which includes a provision that restricts coverage of gender-affirming care for transgender children of service members. Please do not end your presidency by throwing one of the most vulnerable groups of kids under the bus. I am deeply disappointed by the Democratic senators, also the ones of my home state for whom our household voted and for whom I canvassed. But I am holding out hope that you will do the right thing. It is ALWAYS the right thing to stand up for the most vulnerable. Even when it may not be politically opportune. I am not sure what I can tell my kids if you don't. We are raising them to stand up for the ones that are getting taunted and harassed. Even if they don't particularly like these kids. Even if it's their friends doing it. And they are very worried about the roll back of LGBTQ rights, one of our kids is non binary and many of their friends are gender queer, too. What am I going to tell if no one not even the president of the United States stands up for their and their friends' rights? Please do the right thing.
