I am writing to urge you to take immediate action to support a lasting ceasefire in Gaza and ensure that any reconstruction efforts prioritize the Palestinian people rather than enriching private interests.
Despite the comprehensive ceasefire agreement reached on October 10, 2025, the Israeli government continues to violate the truce almost daily, killing hundreds of Palestinians, injuring many more, and demolishing thousands of buildings. The United Nations has characterized these actions as genocide. This ongoing violence must end, and I ask you to reject any occupation of Gaza by Israeli forces.
I am deeply concerned about plans to take over and rebuild Gaza through a "Board of Peace" composed largely of Trump's inner circle. Jared Kushner presented a plan at Davos for skyscrapers and luxury resorts that appears designed to enrich those involved rather than help Palestinians. Gaza's reconstruction must be led by and for the Palestinian people, not turned into a profit opportunity for oligarchs and developers.
I also oppose any new Memorandum of Understanding outlining future US-Israeli military coordination. Current discussions about "tapering off" the existing MOU distract from Heritage Foundation recommendations to elevate Israel to a partnership role with billions in "Partnership Investment Incentives" that would require Israel to spend money on American military hardware. This would entrench military financing under a different structure rather than reduce it.
I ask you to support resolutions blocking the sale of offensive weaponry to Israel and to support a resolution calling for U.S. recognition of a Palestinian state to advance a two-state solution. The people of Gaza deserve safety, self-determination, and a reconstruction process that serves their needs rather than outside financial interests.
I hope I can count on your leadership to prioritize human rights and a just, lasting peace in this critical moment.
