Today, October 9, 2026, an American president announced that he had “made a deal” with Russia to supply their sanctioned oil to the United States and global market, inviting Americans to view this as the result of “highly successful” negotiations. Russia is under sanctions for its war of aggression against our ally Ukraine. In purchasing Russian oil, Trump funds that illegal and horrible war against our ally, betraying not only Ukraine but the entire international community that has agreed that land must not be taken by invasion and conquest. Russian oil purchased by this American president with our taxpayer dollars would spill Ukrainian blood. But congress holds the power of the purse. I urge you to block this corrupt sale. We do not need Russian oil; we need a resolution to Mr Trump’s own war of choice in Iran, which coincided with the dramatic rise in global oil prices we have all been paying. Funding Putin’s war crimes will not ease our problems but only compound them. Not one American dollar for Putin’s oil.
