Oppose Military Presence at Polling Locations and Ballot Boxes

To: Sen. Moreno, Sen. Husted, Rep. Joyce

From: A constituent in Willoughby, OH

October 9

Deploying troops to polling locations or ballot boxes must be stopped immediately. This is not a gray area — stationing military personnel at the sites where Americans cast their votes is a direct violation of the Posse Comitatus Act and a fundamental threat to free and fair elections. I expect you to use every tool at your disposal to block this. The ballot box is where civilian democracy lives. Military presence at polling sites intimidates voters, suppresses turnout, and signals that elections are being treated as a security threat rather than a civic right. No legitimate election administration requires armed troops standing over voters. This is the kind of tactic we condemn in authoritarian states, and it has no place here. Stand up and say so publicly, loudly, and now.
