Yes on HB 389 - Eliminate additional registration fee for hybrid vehicles

To: Rep. Glassburn, Sen. Patton, Gov. DeWine

From: A verified voter in Cleveland, OH

May 28

Yes on House Bill 389 please! As a resident of your district and a voter, I am writing to urge your strong support for House Bill 389, which would eliminate the unfair $100 annual registration surcharge on traditional hybrid vehicles. Traditional hybrids run entirely on gasoline; they do not plug into the grid. As a result, hybrid owners already pay the full Ohio fuel tax every single time we fill up at the pump. Forcing us to pay an extra $100 fee at registration is clear double-taxation that unfairly penalizes Ohioans who simply chose an efficient vehicle. Representative David Thomas has rightly pointed out that this is a matter of basic taxpayer fairness. Please support your colleagues on both sides of the aisle, protect your constituents from duplicate fees, and vote YES on HB 389.
