Immigration policy is breaking the economy

To: Sen. Cornyn, Rep. Johnson, Sen. Cruz

From: A constituent in Plano, TX

July 24

Completely ignoring the humanitarian aspect for a moment... from a purely economic standpoint, it's idiotic to spend 1.5 billion dollars to detain and deport immigrants who have no criminal record (or a minor charge from years ago). These people serve our economy with their labor. They harvest our food, build our homes and contribute to service industries a multitude of ways. They pay taxes and contribute to social security even though they can never withdraw from it. Not only is it inhumane to break families apart and send hard working to torture camps, it's also a ridiculous and unnecessary burden on the American economy, and one voters are no longer willing to shoulder. No amount of tax breaks will make up for the economic damage the President, Congress and DHS have inflicted on Americans. Go clean up the mess you've made. We the people will not pay for it and we're not going to stand for it, or for you. We demand immediate immigration reform. We demand defunding ICE and the immediate removal of incompetent Kristi Noem and sadistic Tom Holman.
