California must stay competitive in AI. “The states that align infrastructure, electricity, and policy with AI’s explosive growth will win,” said Ira Ehrenpreis (founder and managing partner of venture capital firm DBL Partners and co-chair of Stanford’s Precourt Institute’s advisory council). “California should create the optimal regulatory and legislative environment to properly compete.” Stanford released a plan related to this. Please read it and implement its ideas. In short:
- Make permitting easy, stockpile needed supplies like power transformers
- Invest in our electricity infrastructure
- Increase coordination between grid operators and utilities
- Accelerate deployment of clean, 24/7 generation, such as geothermal energy, low-carbon fuel cells, and natural gas with carbon capture and sequestration
- Advance innovation in business models and financing mechanisms
