Every day there is a firestorm of nonsense at breakneck speed that I never know what topic to cover in these letters and end up missing a lot. The letters federal workers are being asked to send is not in any way comparable to sending a short list to your own supervisor. They are coming from bad actors outside our organization like Elon Mush and Russel Vought at OMB who is directing agencies what to do. The agencies have all been filled with people who do their bidding anyway. These emails go against every bit of training federal employees get about protecting data, how to recognize if people are hostile to our country, cybersecurity practices etc. The purpose of it is to justify the large scale firings that come. People don’t know what type of info they are so poised to provide in the level of detail. They don’t know if what they send will lead to them being fired. It has been said that large aggregation of data like this raises its classification level. As that is going on the budget resolutions propose cutting out federal health benefits for a voucher system which is beyond wrong. There are huge proposed cuts to Medicaid and food stamps which will lead to the deaths of poor people. All of these cuts are to fund tax cuts only to those making over 750,000 and the largest corporations. The cuts which are devastating don’t even make up for the tax cuts to the most wealthiest individuals. We already have extreme wealth disparity. As the firestorm of firings and other attacks on our constitution is happening FAA officials were ordered to find funding for Elon Musk’s Starlink after he falsely claimed that the Verizon contract was going to lead to problems. You are standing by and allowing our constitutional republic to turn into an autocratic state just like Poland and Hungary in recent times.
