Investigate and remove anyone in government who has committed, enabled, or concealed sexual violence. This is not a partisan issue. It is a basic standard of fitness for public office, and too many officials are failing it.
Ed Martin, a DOJ official, publicly boasted about socializing with Russell Brand while Brand was awaiting trial on rape charges. That is disqualifying conduct. Anyone who holds power over the enforcement of laws protecting women and girls cannot also be cozying up to accused predators. The pattern is clear, and it keeps repeating because there are no consequences.
Pass legislation that mandates removal proceedings for any official credibly found to have protected, associated with, or covered for a sexual predator. Enforce the laws already on the books. The people in this country who are most vulnerable to sexual violence are watching to see whether those in power will act or look away again.
