Save Federal Jobs
To: Sen. Boozman, Rep. Womack, Sen. Cotton
From: A constituent in Fayetteville, AR
February 15, 2025
I am writing to you as a concerned constituent regarding the ongoing threats to federal employees and government agencies under the current administration of the President. His administration’s push to remove career federal workers and dismantle entire agencies is an alarming attack on the stability of our government and the dedicated individuals who serve this country. If these efforts continue, the repercussions will be beyond severe. Thousands of skilled public servants are facing sudden unemployment, exacerbating economic instability and creating widespread financial distress for families, after dealing with the threatening, and quite frankly, insulting emails coming from OPM every day. Your constituents will lose their livelihoods, and the money they would have spent at businesses will no longer exist, therefore those businesses will take the hit, and so will their employees, which could lead to further downsizing in the non-federal world. Suddenly we have many thousands of people unemployed in major Arkansas cities all applying for the same 200 jobs. It doesn’t matter if some of these people voted blue, because the red will feel it just as harshly. This goes far, far beyond the blue and red lines. And these people will remember come next election, if those they voted for did nothing to correct the malignant abuse of power we’re seeing from Trump and Musk. The loss of institutional knowledge due to a politically motivated purge of the federal workforce will weaken critical government functions, impacting services that millions of Americans rely on daily. It’s hitting the VA now. So the veterans you claim to care for will suffer in both health and burial benefits, and their families will feel the financial pinch of the aftermath. They, too, will remember this. Furthermore, these actions erode public trust in our government’s ability to uphold constitutional principles. A democracy cannot function when one administration seeks to strip institutions of their authority and dismantle the mechanisms designed to protect citizens. We must not allow the systematic dismantling of federal agencies and the livelihoods of hardworking Americans to go unchallenged. I urge you to support legislation that strengthens protections for federal employees against politically motivated terminations, safeguards essential agencies from reckless dismantling, and ensures that government institutions continue serving the public without partisan interference. I would appreciate any insights into ongoing legislative efforts to counter these threats and your perspective on how the Senate can uphold the integrity of our government. Thank you for your commitment to the people of Arkansas and the principles of democracy. I look forward to your response.
