I am writing to urge full transparency from the federal government regarding the recent military strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. According to an intelligence assessment first reported by CNN, these strikes failed to eliminate key elements of Iran's nuclear program and only delayed its progress by a few months. This directly contradicts claims by President Trump that the strikes "obliterated" Iran's nuclear capability. The White House spokesperson dismissed this assessment as "flat-out wrong" and accused the intelligence community of attempting to "demean" the president. However, concealing or distorting intelligence threatens our national security. Accurate information is vital for properly evaluating threats and formulating an effective response. Transparency allows for accountability and informed public discourse on matters of grave importance. The American people deserve the truth about the impact of these strikes and the remaining threat posed by Iran's nuclear program. Providing false assurances only undermines the public's trust in our government during a precarious geopolitical situation. For the sake of national security and faith in our democratic institutions, I implore the administration to uphold transparency by acknowledging this intelligence assessment openly and honestly. Only through such transparency can our nation remain truly secure.
