Stand Up Against Authoritarianism—Uphold the Constitution

To: Sen. Murkowski, Sen. Sullivan, Rep. Begich

From: A verified voter in Anchorage, AK

May 15

I am writing to urge you to uphold the oath you swore to the Constitution and to speak out publicly and forcefully against the Trump administration’s slide toward authoritarianism. In recent days alone, we’ve seen judges arrested, intelligence officials purged, and federal agencies openly repurposed to serve political aims. When dissent is punished, rule of law subverted, and power consolidated through fear rather than public trust, we no longer live in a democracy but under what experts now call “competitive authoritarianism.” These actions threaten the foundation of our republic. If people no longer feel safe criticizing their government, supporting opposition candidates, or trusting the impartiality of our courts, then we have crossed a dangerous line. This is not about partisanship—it is about preserving the Constitution. I am asking you to fulfill your duty, stand with your fellow Americans, and protect our democracy before it’s too late.
