protect the integrity & accessibility of public media, reject cuts to PBS & NPR

To: Rep. Stefanik

From: A constituent in Plattsburgh, NY

July 18

I urge you to oppose any proposal that would cut billions in funding for PBS, NPR, and other public media services. These institutions are vital lifelines for millions of Americans, especially in rural communities like ours where local journalism has vanished and broadband access is limited. In many rural areas, public media is often the only reliable source of news, weather alerts, and educational programming. Public media is also cost-effective. For just $1.40 per person annually, Americans receive 24/7 programming that keeps them informed. Moreover, public media consistently ranks as one of the most trusted news sources in the country. At a time of deep polarization and rampant misinformation, we cannot afford to weaken one of the few institutions that unites Americans around fact-based content. Please protect the integrity and accessibility of public media by rejecting cuts to PBS, NPR, and their member stations.
