I'm a constituent writing to voice my serious concern about ICE spending $20M to give every agent shock gloves. These gloves are hugely dangerous and terrifying — even if they are used responsibly. ICE agents are known to use excessive force, and they often are abusive during their roundups. I do not believe for one second that these gloves will only be used “as directed.” ICE’s agents have a poor track record when it comes to acting professionally or abusing their power, and these gloves have great potential to seriously hurt or even kill people. ICE has more armaments than most nations’ armies, and they already are spreading terror and pain throughout our country. With these shock gloves, you can bet that ICE’s assaults on people will become even more dangerous. I can’t fathom the amount of potential harm they could cause people, especially those with cardiac, neurologic, or other health issues. Congress must act to stop this before it’s too late. Please, find a way to keep these gloves out (and off) of ICE’s hands. Thank you.
