Accountability. Not Deflection.

Subject: Accountability, Not Deflection
President Trump,
Your press conference blaming DEI and Democrats for the recent mid-air collision is not only disingenuous but a blatant attempt to deflect responsibility from your own administration’s actions. The timeline speaks for itself:
• January 20: The FAA director resigns after pressure from Elon Musk, leaving a critical leadership void for 10 days.
• January 21: Air Traffic Controller hiring is frozen, exacerbating an already strained workforce.
• January 22: The Aviation Safety Advisory Committee is disbanded, eliminating key oversight.
• January 28: A buyout/retirement demand is sent to existing employees—including Air Traffic Controllers—further weakening aviation safety.
• January 29: The first American mid-air collision in 16 years occurs under your watch.
• January 30: You blame DEI hiring practices instead of taking responsibility for your administration’s direct role in dismantling safety protocols.
This isn’t about diversity; it’s about competence and leadership—or rather, the lack thereof. Defunding, deregulating, and destabilizing the FAA created an environment where safety failures were inevitable. Instead of pointing fingers at diversity initiatives, perhaps you should reflect on the reckless policies and political stunts that left the skies less safe.
Americans deserve accountability, not excuses. The blame is yours—own it.
Sincerely,
Kim Winnick
