This week we witnessed was one of the most intense missile attacks on Kyiv. Russia continues its non-stop barrage of war crimes with continued attacks on civilians, civilian infrastructure, schools, apartment buildings, shopping malls. This week saw its attempts at the inhalation of Ukrainian culture as this attack targeted the National museum of Arts, Philharmonic House, Music Academy, Yaroslav the Wise Library, Museum of Chornobyl, and the Opera House.
Thankfully, the Ukrainian armed forces and partners who provide both military and financial aid allowed them to intercept so many missiles than would have possible back 2023. The tragedy could be much worse.
Unfortunately, Ukraine is experiencing a critical shortage of missiles, especially interceptors systems like Patriot. And domestic production of anti-ballistic missiles is limited due to a lack of foreign technology licenses.
It is essential to the future of Ukraine and to the future of open western societies on whose behalf Ukraine is fighting that we support Ukraines defense with financial and technical support. This greatly depends upon the United States.
I urge you to lead the effort to continue immediate support to Ukraine’s defenses. Please work with our European partners and with Ukraine to solve this problem so that defensive support can be provided.
