Opposition to the SAVE Act’s Attack on Women’s Voting Rights

To: Rep. Newhouse, Sen. Cantwell, Sen. Murray

From: A constituent in Kennewick, WA

April 10

I am writing to express my outrage over the so-called “SAVE Act,” which is nothing more than a cowardly attempt by anti-choice extremists to suppress women’s votes. Let’s be clear: this legislation is designed to disproportionately burden women voters—particularly those in marginalized communities—because its sponsors fear women will hold them accountable at the ballot box for stripping away our reproductive rights. The timing and intent of this bill are transparent. After the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, millions of women mobilized to defend their rights, and extremist lawmakers know their unpopular agenda is in jeopardy. Now, rather than facing the consequences of their actions, they’re trying to rig the system by creating unnecessary barriers to voting. This is voter suppression disguised as “election integrity,” and it’s an insult to democracy. I demand that you: 1. Publicly condemn the SAVE Act and any similar legislation targeting women voters. 2. Fight to protect and expand voting access, including same-day registration and vote-by-mail. 3. Hold hearings exposing how these laws disproportionately impact women, especially low-income and minority communities. If you truly stand for gender equality and democratic principles, you will act aggressively to stop this blatant suppression. Women are watching, and we will remember who fought for us—and who enabled this attack on our rights. I expect your immediate response detailing your plan to oppose this legislation. Sincerely,
