Please stop the Executive branch from illegally altering data in government systems. Even if you agree with the President's policies, he must follow the rules in place, which protect you and me and our families, not just criminals. What can be done in the interests of "we think these people are illegal or criminal," particularly without any form of due process as with the recent deportations, can be done to any of us. And algorithms are not infallible any more than the humans who create them. Additional oversight is critical. As a Member of Congress, oversight of the Executive Branch is one of the sacred responsibilities entrusted to you by our Founding Fathers in the Constitution - the same one to which you swore your oath when you took office. You have not pushed back, allowing the President to fire the internal Inspectors General to which Congress had delegated some of its oversight authority. That means that YOU are the only oversight left. Today, you may consider yourself immune to being added to the DMF. A quick look at history, or even the President's own history of casting aside people he previously called friends or trusted advisors, should tell you that no one is safe when power is concentrated to the will of one person. Further, it is naive to think that even the President is still in full control of what is going on with data throughout our government records when it has been put into the hands of unelected, unvetted private parties with conflicts of interest and their own axes to grind. My recently widowed mother, about whom I have written to you previously, depends on social security after working and paying into it since she was 16. The administration's unpredictable actions with the economy are also causing the private investments she made, doing what fiscal conservatives have long advised and hoped would replace social security entirely. If this continues, middle class Americans like my mom could be starving in the streets in front of your homes and families. And regardless of current wealth or favor, yours could be next if your wealth can be wiped out or commandeered on a whim. Please exercise oversight over the executive branch. Remove all "DOGE" employees from the government and prosecute any such staffers who have illegally accessed, altered, distributed, or copied government data. Bring all American prisoners held hostage in CECOT back to the US for due process as demanded by the Supreme Court. This country is in your hands via the sacred trust placed in you by your Missouri constituents. Protect us and our families, as well as your own, by doing your job. It demands more than sound bites. It demands courage. I urge you to exercise yours.
