Halt arms flow to Gaza, prioritize civilian protection
To: V.P. Harris
From: A constituent in Prince Frederick, MD
September 16
The continued violence in Gaza is causing immense suffering and loss of life for civilians trapped in the conflict. I urge an immediate ceasefire and cessation of all hostilities by all parties to prevent further civilian casualties. In this vein, I request that the provision of offensive weapons and munitions to the region be halted until a durable ceasefire is achieved. Only by stopping the flow of arms that enable continued fighting can we create the conditions for a peaceful resolution. Civilian protection must be the top priority, and all feasible measures should be taken to facilitate humanitarian access and aid delivery to alleviate the desperate situation in Gaza. A political solution through negotiations is the only path forward to a just and lasting peace.
