I am writing to express my grave concerns regarding Elon Musk’s increasing and unchecked influence over U.S. government policy and national security. I firmly believe that Musk, as a billionaire and corporate magnate, has positioned himself as a “shadow president,” wielding power and control over governmental decisions that should never be in the hands of private individuals with financial self-interest. Musk’s actions, both in the private sector and in his involvement with government contracts, suggest that he is operating as an oligarch—one who uses wealth to manipulate policy, public discourse, and national resources to suit his personal ambitions. His growing influence in the realms of space exploration, energy policy, and transportation, coupled with his ties to powerful political figures, is a threat to the democratic principles upon which this country was founded. Musk’s corporate interests in Tesla, SpaceX, and other ventures have provided him with unprecedented leverage over public decision-making, and I am deeply concerned about the absence of oversight and accountability in his dealings. As a citizen, I cannot stand idly by while a single individual gains so much control over our government, distorting democratic processes and prioritizing personal gain over the welfare of the American people. The potential conflicts of interest that arise from Musk’s influence on defense contracts, space exploration, and environmental policies are not only troubling but dangerous. His unchecked power to shape key decisions without any democratic mandate is, in effect, making him a “shadow president” who operates outside the framework of accountability that is required of public officials. Given his massive financial interests and political influence, I demand that Congress take immediate action to investigate Musk’s role in shaping government policies and remove him from any official position, advisory role, or relationship with the federal government. We cannot allow any individual, regardless of wealth or status, to hold such sway over the direction of our nation’s policy without transparency or appropriate checks on that power. The American people deserve a government that serves their interests, not the interests of billionaires. I ask you, as my elected representative, to act swiftly to ensure that no individual—least of all Elon Musk—can act as a government unto themselves.
