Protect Fair Elections-Halt Politically Motivated Investigations into ActBlue
To: Sen. Graham, Sen. Scott, Rep. Norman
From: A verified voter in Rock Hill, SC
April 24, 2025
I am writing as a concerned constituent from Rock Hill, South Carolina, to express my deep concern over recent actions targeting ActBlue, the primary fundraising platform for Democratic candidates and causes.
On April 24, 2025, President Donald Trump issued a presidential memorandum directing Attorney General Pam Bondi to investigate ActBlue, alleging it facilitates illegal foreign contributions. This move appears to be a politically motivated attempt to undermine a platform that has been instrumental in supporting grassroots Democratic campaigns, having raised over $400 million in early 2025 alone.
While ensuring the integrity of our elections is paramount, the allegations against ActBlue remain largely unsubstantiated. ActBlue has proactively updated its systems to enhance donation security, including measures to block high-risk or foreign-sourced donations. Despite these efforts, the administration’s actions seem more aligned with political strategy than genuine concern for election integrity.
I urge you to:
1. Publicly oppose the administration’s investigation into ActBlue, recognizing it as a potential misuse of executive power for political gain.
2. Advocate for fair and transparent election practices that do not disproportionately target platforms based on political affiliation.
3. Support legislation that protects the rights of organizations facilitating grassroots political participation from unwarranted government interference.
Our democracy thrives when all citizens have equal opportunity to support the candidates and causes they believe in. Undermining platforms like ActBlue threatens this principle and sets a dangerous precedent.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust you will act to uphold the values of fairness and democracy that our nation holds dear.
