I am writing to urge you to support the immediate extension of Affordable Care Act subsidies. Without these subsidies, my monthly premiums will increase to nine times what we pay now, forcing my family and many other constituents to choose between healthcare and financial stability. As a family with ongoing medical issues, this is a very difficult choice. This dramatic cost increase will force working families like mine to drain savings and retirement accounts simply to afford basic healthcare coverage. Many will be left with no choice but to go uninsured, risking bankruptcy if medical emergencies arise. I understand concerns about rising healthcare costs, but eliminating subsidies does not address the underlying problem. It simply shifts the burden entirely onto individuals and families who are already struggling with increased costs for housing, groceries, and utilities. Ending tax credits makes healthcare neither more efficient nor more affordable for the people who need it most. Extending the ACA subsidies is vital to ensure the well being of your constituents. I am asking you to support the discharge petition filed by Democratic representatives to force a House floor vote on extending ACA subsidies. Time is critical, as families like mine are already receiving notices of massive premium increases and making impossible decisions about their healthcare coverage. Healthcare should never be a political issue. It is a fundamental necessity that allows people to work, care for their families, and contribute to their communities. Please take immediate action to extend ACA subsidies and protect working families from devastating premium increases.
