Reclaiming Honesty and Integrity, Speaking Out Against Election Lies
To: Sen. Husted, Sen. Moreno, Rep. Beatty
From: A verified voter in Columbus, OH
February 19
I am writing to you today as a constituent who believes that public service requires a fundamental commitment to the truth. While I recognize that you have frequently cited your personal ethics as a guiding force for your leadership, I am increasingly concerned by the disparity between the rhetoric regarding non-citizen voting and the actual data available. I am asking you to lead with integrity and to push back against the misinformation currently circulating within the Republican party. The evidence from our own state and across the nation consistently shows that there is no evidence of significant or widespread voter fraud by undocumented people. Period. Every single one of the many studies on this, partisan or not, has found that the percentage of non-citizens registering or attempting to vote is beyond minuscule. Some examples of this include: -- In Ohio: Secretary of State Frank LaRose’s 2025 investigation found that out of nearly 8 million registered voters, only 167 non-citizens were suspected of casting a ballot over a six-year period (2018–2024). This represents a validity rate of 99.998%. Furthermore, when cases were referred for prosecution in 2024, local prosecutors moved forward with only 12 cases, citing a lack of evidence in the rest. That's less than .000015% -- In Georgia: A 2024 audit by Secretary Brad Raffensperger (R) found only 20 confirmed non-citizens on a roll of 8.2 million voters. None had cast ballots in the most recent general election. -- In Iowa: Secretary Paul Pate (R) recently revised an initial claim of thousands of potential non-citizen voters down to 35 ballots out of millions cast. -- The Heritage Foundation Data: Even the Heritage Foundation’s "Election Fraud Map," often cited by those concerned with fraud, identifies only a few dozen instances of non-citizen voting over the last 20 years. When viewed against the billions of votes cast in that timeframe, it confirms that this is not a systemic issue. To suggest that our elections are being undermined by mass non-citizen voting is profoundly dishonest. To remain silent while others propagate these claims is to participate in the scapegoating of a vulnerable community for political gain—an act that falls far short of the ethical and moral leadership our state deserves. I am requesting that you stand up for the facts: 1.. Acknowledge the facts: Publicly state that non-citizen voting is an extremely rare occurrence and not a threat to the integrity of our elections. 2.. Correct the Record: When members of your caucus repeat debunked claims about "mass non-citizen voting," I ask that you have the moral clarity to correct them. 3.. Vote Ethically: As you cast your votes for any election-related issues, I ask that you not pass measures that are based on what you know are lies. Speak out against those measures, as they diminish your stand as a man of morals. Leadership with integrity means choosing the truth even when it is politically inconvenient. I look forward to seeing you demonstrate that commitment.
