Trump's revenge is upon us - for no reason but that his fragile ego cannot accept anything but worship. He has spent the last eight years building in his followers not only the fervor of a cult, but glee in the entertainment of destroying others. He has succeeded in making people believe they are patriots by destroying their own democracy. And he has cowed you into submission. After reading yesterday's summary of the sheer number of innocent people who have now been disappeared by this administration, we now know that none of us is safe. There is no more protection of the law, nor from the law. We also know that your status as representatives does not protect you either. Only the cowardice of silence and complicity as you watch our society tear itself apart. But this will not end with Trump. As a third of our country's citizens become inured to suffering, and rabid for some ambiguous revenge with no particular purpose, we can now see the future generations of inhumanity taking shape. History will chronicle that the US Congress was first to surrender its oath and its power. It will aggregate you into a nameless entity that capitulated immediately to a dictator, without objection or complaint. But we will remember your names, and be sure that our children know that it was Lisa, Dan and Nick who who stood by while the Constitution was dismantled, and did nothing.
