I am your constituent and I want to bring to your attention and executive order signed on August 7, 2025 by President Trump. It puts political appointees in charge of the review of scientific grants and makes scientific peer review by experts optional. He is turning scientific research into politically motivated garbage that is meant to advance his anti-science agenda. This is NOT HOW I WANT MY TAX DOLLARS SPENT. I want you to get legislation in place to overturn this order and restore expert scientific peer review in the federal scientific grant making process. I don’t care how hard you think it is to get such a bill passed. I want you to do it anyway. We can’t let him dismantle science without resistance. You are a beneficiary of federal scientific research if you’ve ever taken a prescription drug or had any vaccine. Your life expectancy today is most likely over 80 years. I want you to know that in 1900, when there were no such advances in science, life expectancy in the U.S. was far less than 50 years. If you let him keep this up we will return to that.
