I am writing again to express my outrage at this Republican administration intentionally creating an unnecessary recession by imposing tariffs on our global trading partners, including Mexico, Canada, and the European Union. This administration is playing with tariffs like a toddler playing with a loaded gun. This will harm US and Texas consumers, as the cost of the tariffs will be passed on to us, fueling the very inflation the administration promised to quell. Tariffs have nothing to do with sound economic policy and they will NOT renew US manufacturing. They WILL, however, cause unnecessary economic hardships on working Texans and decimate their investments. Yesterday my wife looked at her 401k statement and gasped at the losses. Congress has the power to end these tariffs and save our economy by repealing Trump’s so-called ‘emergency declaration.’ Yet, after a week, nothing has been done. You and your Republican colleagues can put an end to this madness at any time. Will you?
