Rein in DOGE overreach at Department of Education

It is concerning to learn that Elon Musk's unelected task force DOGE has been unilaterally disrupting operations and pushing out career officials at the Department of Education. The aggressive tactics employed by DOGE staffers, such as taking over offices, moving furniture, and setting up devices to muffle conversations, create an intimidating work environment and undermine the agency's ability to fulfill its vital mission. The arbitrary budget cut demands from DOGE, which appear disconnected from any coherent policy goals, threaten to cripple essential programs like federal student aid that millions of American families rely on. Slashing 80% of funding for websites and services supporting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) used by 17 million families annually would be disastrous. I urge you to take immediate action to rein in DOGE's overreach and restore proper order at the Department of Education. Unelected private citizens should not be permitted to bully career public servants or capriciously defund programs that expand educational access and opportunity. The American people deserve a fully functioning Education Department that prioritizes students over political agendas. Intervention is needed to curb DOGE's reckless disruptions before irreparable harm is done.
