Each day, I watch as the cruel realities of war unfold, images projecting a horror that feels almost unimaginable in this modern era. The constant barrage of violence sweeping over the land that was once known as the cradle of civilization is heartbreaking to behold, each stroke of atrocity more vivid and atrocious than the last. Amidst this, the United States, a beacon of liberty, contributes its resources to continue these affronts against human dignity, through the funding of Israel’s distressing actions against Palestinian civilians. It is a shortsighted approach that fuels endless conflict instead of promoting sustainable peace. Imagine a child, too young to understand the complexities of the world, waking up each day to the sound of violence reverberating off the already shattered walls of their home. They are the collateral damage of an unjust war, not only losing their innocence but their lives as well. It's a harsh reality that hundreds of thousands of Palestinian children and their families are living in fear due to policies funded by U.S. taxpayers. It's a reality made more poignant as the weapons causing the pain and destruction bear the mark, "Made in the USA". Our nation's prominence on the world stage should encourage freedom and justice, not perpetuate a cycle of violence and suffering. The cost of war is high, but the price of humanity’s dignity is priceless. As an ordinary man, I implore the United States to cease the funding of these confrontations immediately. Instead, redirect that funding to promote peace, support the reconstruction of affected areas, and help the traumatised, unfairly victimized people recover. It is beyond time we stop sending arms into an arena already overflowing with hatred and fear. We have an obligation, not just as a nation, but as individuals who value decent livelihoods and basic human rights, to demand an immediate halt to these wars. No cries for peace should ever fall on deaf ears.
