Hold ICE to Account

To: Rep. Deluzio, Sen. McCormick, Sen. Fetterman

From: A constituent in Pittsburgh, PA

January 12

ICE agents are operating with absolute impunity in Minneapolis, Portland, and in cities across the country. Mr. Trump and his administration have chosen to gaslight the public and push a narrative that avoids any accountability and attempts to convince the public that what we have seen with our own eyes is not the truth. We are entering a dangerous moment, and I fear for the lives of anyone who stands against ICE and their unlawful actions. I don't need to remind you, but someone should remind the administration, Ms. Noem, and all of ICE: it is not a crime to exist in the United States, regardless of citizenship or residency status, regardless of political affiliation. It is not a capital offense to refuse to comply with law enforcement. No law enforcement entity has the authority to serve as judge, jury, and executioner and bypass the right to due process. I implore you to use the authority you have to take a firm stand against ICE and their illegal actions and pass legislation that that checks their authority, sending a clear signal to the administration that they work for us, and we will not stand by as our nation descends into a police state.
