I am writing as a deeply concerned and terrified constituent to urge you to immediately investigate former President Donald Trump’s executive order issued on January 20, 2025, as well as his apparent invocation or preparation to invoke the Insurrection Act and impose martial law around April 20, 2025. The very idea that a former president might be attempting to unlawfully seize power or mobilize military force against civilians is horrifying. These actions, if confirmed, represent a clear and present danger to our democracy, our Constitution, and the rule of law. I am scared for the future of this country. I fear for what this means for our freedoms, our safety, and the very foundation of our democratic system. We need immediate transparency, accountability, and a forceful response from those in power who are sworn to protect and uphold the Constitution. I implore you to act without delay. Please work with your colleagues to launch a full investigation, obtain and release all relevant information, and ensure that no individual—no matter how powerful—is allowed to undermine our democracy without consequence.
