PETITION: END THE RECESS, RECONVENE CONGRESS, AND DO YOUR JOB Politicians talk about the "greater good" when stripping away our future to enrich the top 1%. But there is nothing patriotic about a system that sells out our health, our environment, and our survival while Congress takes an early vacation to campaign. The promise of "Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness" isn't a VIP subscription just for billionaires who buy access to the administration. It is the baseline job description of our government. Every member of the House who walked away from Washington needs to answer for what this so-called "greater good" actually looks like: Priced Out of Survival: How is gutting healthcare access through Medicare and Medicaid, or slashing food security programs like SNAP, serving the public when Americans can barely afford rent and groceries? Anti-Science Policies: How does degrading public health with anti-science rhetoric and gutting global immunization programs protect our communities? Selling Out Our Future: Why are we sacrificing our National Parks to industrial polluters, gutting the EPA, and defunding global aid (USAID)? Blatant Corruption: How is it acceptable for the executive branch to treat the presidency like a side hustle--selling off Presidential pardons to the highest bidder and using international diplomacy to close personal corporate business deals? We are watching our institutions get sold for parts while the people elected to stop it refuse to show up for work. We demand: Get Back to Work: End the recess and reconvene the House immediately. You don't get to go home and campaign while the country is in crisis. Do Actual Oversight: Use your constitutional power to investigate executive corruption, issue subpoenas, and stop the administration from governing by unchecked fiat. Stop Serving the 1%: Put yourselves on the record and start doing your job to protect the rest of us.
