’m writing to urge you to come together with your colleagues on both sides of the aisle to end the government shutdown. The inability of Congress to govern effectively is hurting real people — families like mine.
My brother is just one of many caught in the middle of this political standoff. Every day the shutdown continues, livelihoods are threatened, paychecks are delayed, and critical services are disrupted. It’s unacceptable that hardworking Americans are being held hostage because elected officials can’t come to the table and do the jobs they were elected to do.
Please work toward a bipartisan solution that reopens the government and restores faith in the people’s institutions. Compromise is not weakness — it’s leadership. Negotiate on the issues that matter, including the healthcare subsidies that are about to expire and risk leaving thousands without coverage. These decisions have real consequences, and inaction is not an option.
We need you to put people over politics. Get in the room, stay in the room, and find a path forward — together.
