I am writing to demand accountability from House leadership. Speaker Mike Johnson has been dishonest with the American people and has failed to fulfill the most basic duty of Congress: to remain in session and do the work of governing. Under his leadership, the House has been in actual session only a handful of days this term. Even now—after calling members back to “reopen the government”—the House is once again out of session. This is not responsible governance. I am deeply troubled that Speaker Johnson continues to operate as a proxy for Donald Trump instead of as an independent constitutional officer. The Speaker of the House should serve the nation, not act as a political puppet for any individual. His refusal to keep Congress working, his constant delays, and his repeated misrepresentations about the legislative schedule are unacceptable. I am asking you, as a member of the Republican conference, to stand up for functional government. We need leadership that is honest, present, and committed to doing the work the American people elected you to do. Please take action to hold Speaker Johnson accountable and restore integrity to the House of Representatives. Thank you.
