I heard some interesting information today about Trump’s DOJ. It is about 5,000 people short of the normal staffing. There are several reasons: (in no particular order) 1. Firing of attorneys and staff who had worked on cases involving Trump in the prior administration, 2. Resignations of ethical attorneys and staff who don’t want to be stuck on retribution cases that go nowhere (Letitia James, former military members who filmed a video advising the military they don’t have to obey illegal orders, et al) 3. Slow recruitment - new applicants see what is going on and don’t like it outnumbering the MAGA applicants . 4. Under qualified loyalists being appointed to DOJ management positions with no Senate approval and being bounced by ethical judges. As a result, the DOJ is turning down cases referred by grand juries and state AGs due to lack of personnel. The cases they are concentrating on are mainly immigration cases, while criminal cases are being turned down. History has shown that illegal residents break laws far less frequently than citizens. Really makes you feel safe doesn’t it? On the birthright citizenship case, it appears that the DOJ representative appears to have been outdone by the ACLU attorney, and had trouble answering some questions from the Justices. Unfortunately we won’t know the result for a few more months. Keep the faith!
