I am your constituent, and I never miss an election. I write today in support of the New York For All Act (A3506/S2235) for the 2025 New York State Legislative Session. Considering the fascist regime currently in Washington, this legislation at the state level is all the more important. Just this week, more members of my community were thrown into fear of lawless deportation, as Trump tries to enact myriad executive orders to get rid of non-white immigrants. He is intent on stoking racial division in order to solidify authoritarian power. This is not how we roll in a democracy!
Thus, the New York for All Act is all the more important. It is crucial legislation that would prohibit state and local government agencies, including law enforcement, from colluding with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), sharing sensitive personal information, or allocating personnel and resources to aid in federal immigration enforcement efforts. Local government should not conspire with ICE, which is randomly targeting immigrants and their families in New York! They are terrifying us and affecting everyone’s ability to function in a healthy way and to go to school, work, or take care of their loved ones.
I strongly urge you to support the New York For All Act. By reinforcing the separation between local governance and federal immigration policies, this critical bill would ensure that all New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status, can access public services, care for their families, and participate in community life without fear. Additionally, the legislation preserves critical state and local resources for their intended use within New York’s diverse communities and blocks the use of taxpayer dollars to support a punitive, politically-driven immigration agenda.
Please let me know what you intend to do to stop this federal overreach and whether you plan to support the New York For All Act. Thank you!
