I am writing to express my grave concerns regarding the recent announcement of Kash Patel as a potential nominee for FBI Director under former President Donald Trump, as reported by Rolling Stone. According to the article, Mr. Patel has demonstrated an alarming dedication to partisan loyalty and a disregard for the rule of law. His public statements include pledges to investigate and prosecute political and media opponents, and he has even referred to MAGA officials as “tyrannical” and “dictators <emphasis added>,” Such rhetoric is deeply troubling and incompatible with the values enshrined in our Constitution. The U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s Guide to Processing Personnel Actions (Appointment Affidavit Form 61) mandates that federal officials pledge to "support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic" and to "bear true faith and allegiance" to it. These principles are fundamentally at odds with Mr. Patel’s stated intentions to pursue personal vendettas, which threaten to erode public trust in one of our nation’s most critical law enforcement institutions. The United States Constitution explicitly forbids dictatorships <emphasis added>. Our government is founded on democratic principles, checks and balances, and the impartial administration of justice. Appointing an individual with Mr. Patel’s record to lead the FBI risks undermining these principles and could lead to the politicization of an agency that must remain independent and unbiased. As your constituent, I urge you and your colleagues to take immediate action to prevent such an appointment and to safeguard our democracy from falling into the hands of individuals who seek to undermine it. Elected officials have sworn an oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the American people from threats—both foreign and domestic. The time to act is now. We must ensure that our law enforcement institutions are led by individuals who are committed to justice, impartiality, and the principles of our democracy. I implore you to stand firm against any effort to install leadership that threatens these values. My father did not serve 4 years in the Navy too allow dictators to take over our country. I had other relatives that died in WWII fighting fascists. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter. I trust that you will act in the best interests of the American people and uphold your oath of office. Please don't disappointment us citizens. Remember the Oath you took. If you are truly loyal to the Constitution, you will prevent this country falling in the wrong hands again.
