Your Constituents Are Watching, Stand Up to Russell Vought

To: Sen. Hawley, Sen. Schmitt

From: A verified voter in Kansas City, MO

August 17

I am writing to ask you a question that I believe many of your constituents are asking: Why aren’t you standing up for the American people? Why aren’t you standing up for the federal employees who dedicate their careers to serving this country? Why are you allowing Russell Vought and this administration to continue dismantling federal agencies, driving experienced employees out of government, and damaging the very institutions Americans depend on? Federal employees are not the enemy. They are the people processing Social Security claims, answering veterans’ questions, protecting our borders, enforcing laws, conducting inspections, managing public programs, and keeping the federal government functioning. When these employees are targeted, agencies are weakened—and ultimately, the American people suffer. Russell Vought should not be given free rein to destroy the federal workforce and undermine agencies that millions of Americans rely upon. Where is your opposition? Where is your voice? Where is your responsibility to the people who elected you? You were elected to represent your constituents—not to blindly stand by while our government is dismantled and federal workers are treated as disposable. And I want to be very clear: if you think you are going to be reelected, you need to start thinking seriously about your constituents. People are paying attention. Federal employees are paying attention. Their families are paying attention. And voters will remember who stood up when it mattered—and who stayed silent. I am asking you to stop putting party politics ahead of the people you were elected to serve. Stand up to Russell Vought. Stand up for federal employees. Stand up for the agencies that Americans depend on. And, most importantly, stand up for the American people. You have an opportunity to demonstrate that your loyalty is to your constituents and to the country—not to an individual administration official or political agenda. I sincerely hope you will choose to use your position to protect the people you represent before even more damage is done.
