National debt

I am writing as a concerned constituent to express my strong opposition to the proposed tax cuts currently under consideration. While I recognize the importance of a fair and competitive tax system, I am alarmed by any plan that would further reduce federal revenues at a time when our national debt is soaring and annual deficits continue to grow.
The United States is already facing a long-term fiscal imbalance, with debt service costs projected to consume an ever-larger share of the federal budget. In this context, additional tax cuts—particularly those that disproportionately benefit corporations and high-income earners—are fiscally irresponsible and ethically questionable. They may provide short-term political appeal but will only worsen the structural deficit in the years ahead.
Our nation needs a budget strategy grounded in long-term stability, not short-term expediency. Cutting taxes only deepens our reliance on borrowed money and shifts the burden to future generations.
I urge you to:
• Oppose any new tax cut proposals that are not fully paid for;
• Protect revenue streams necessary for investments in infrastructure, education, and public health;
• Support a comprehensive review of our tax code that emphasizes fairness, sustainability, and fiscal responsibility;
• Advocate for bipartisan efforts to address the underlying causes of the deficit rather than accelerating them.
It is essential that Congress confronts the hard choices needed to ensure America’s fiscal health. I respectfully ask that you reject further tax cuts that would undermine our nation’s economic foundation.
Thank you for your service and for your attention to this matter. I look forward to hearing your position on this issue.
