As your constituent, I’m urging you to support increasing the senior standard tax deduction for older Americans to help offset the unfair tax on Social Security benefits. Every penny counts for seniors who are living on a fixed income. This commonsense solution will put dollars back in our pockets, making it easier to afford necessities like food, gas and medicine. Millions of America’s seniors have worked hard to earn a living, yet find themselves struggling to get by. At the same time, many seniors are also being taxed on their Social Security, a practice they find outrageous. The cost of so many things continues to go up, hitting seniors’ pocketbooks. Increasing the senior standard deduction is an opportunity to bring them much needed relief.
