I am writing to express my strong opposition to the nomination of Matt Gaetz as U.S. Attorney General. This role requires the utmost integrity, yet Mr. Gaetz has a troubling history that raises serious concerns about his fitness for this position.
The Department of Justice previously investigated Gaetz for allegations involving sex trafficking of a minor, including accusations that he paid a 17-year-old girl to travel with him across state lines. While no charges were ultimately filed, the investigation revealed evidence of inappropriate conduct, including payments to women for sex through mobile apps. Additionally, Gaetz's association with Joel Greenberg, who pled guilty to sex trafficking and cooperated with federal authorities, casts further doubt on his character.
Appointing someone with such a controversial background to the nation’s highest law enforcement position would undermine public trust in our legal institutions. The Attorney General must be above reproach, yet Mr. Gaetz's past actions and inflammatory rhetoric suggest he is more interested in partisan retribution than in upholding justice.
I urge you to oppose this nomination and to advocate for a candidate who embodies the integrity, impartiality, and moral character essential for this critical role.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
