URGENT: Demand to Restore Congressional Oversight and Constitutional Order

To: Sen. Fetterman, Rep. Smucker, Sen. McCormick

From: A verified voter in Strasburg, PA

October 22, 2025

As a concerned constituent, I am writing to urge you to immediately restore Congress's essential constitutional duties of oversight and appropriations. The perceived erosion of these powers is a matter of profound concern to the American people and directly contributes to a lack of faith in our system of checks and balances. The massive and peaceful "NO KINGS" demonstrations across our nation are a direct message regarding the unacceptable level of executive overreach. These demonstrations are a clear exercise of the First Amendment and a patriotic call for the legislative branch to reassert its authority. Specifically, I have grave concerns regarding the apparent misuse of the power of the purse and the administration's questionable spending priorities. Examples of this include: • The allocation of funds for extensive renovations and additions, such as the construction of an apparent ballroom on the White House grounds, at a time when funding for essential programs, such as special educational needs for children, is being deemed insufficient.

 • The reported expenditure of $172 million for the purchase of two private jets by the Coast Guard, reportedly at the request of Governor Kristi Noem, while critical subsidies for the Affordable Care Act remain underfunded and at risk. I am also deeply troubled by the instances of executive power being used to undercut the rule of law. The recent pardon of George Santos stands in stark contrast to reports of innocent individuals being detained by ICE. These actions suggest a dangerous prioritization of political loyalty over justice and constitutional integrity. Furthermore, I demand immediate clarification regarding the reported use of taxpayer dollars to produce and disseminate partisan, highly inappropriate videos targeting peaceful American protestors. I ask: • Do you support the expenditure of public funds on such questionable content? • Do you know who authorized this specific use of taxpayer money? I urge you to use your standing as members of the legislative branch to stop this pattern of executive overreach and waste. My requests are as follows: 1 Resume Congress's constitutionally enshrined duty of oversight. 2 Insist on regular, meaningful oversight meetings for every committee of which you are a member. 3 Reclaim Congress's constitutional powers, specifically oversight and appropriations, to ensure a necessary balance of power. 4 Take all necessary steps, including the process of impeachment, to restore constitutional order and hold the Executive Branch accountable to the rule of law. The message from your constituents is clear: It is time for Congress to fulfill its constitutional role. I look forward to your commitment to these critical duties.
