Oppose Military Action Against Iran Without Clear Objectives

To: Rep. Scanlon, Sen. McCormick, Sen. Fetterman

From: A verified voter in Garnet Valley, PA

March 17

I need you to oppose the military action against Iran. This administration has failed to articulate a coherent objective for this war, and that should alarm every member of Congress. Trump has given contradictory justifications ranging from 47 years of grievances to eliminating an "imminent nuclear threat" he already claimed to have eliminated in June. Pentagon officials told congressional staff that no intelligence supported the notion Iran was planning to attack us first. Secretary of State Rubio suggested Israel was going to attack anyway, while Trump later claimed Iran would attack first. The only consistent statement has been Trump's demand for "unconditional surrender." This is not a strategy. The administration had no succession plan. Trump admitted on March 3 that most of his preferred Iranian leaders are now dead, joking about a "third wave coming." Iran just chose Khamenei's son as the new Supreme Leader, a hard-liner expected to continue the same policies. A classified National Intelligence Committee study found that even large-scale assault likely would not oust Iran's entrenched establishment. More than half of Americans oppose this war. We are displacing hundreds of thousands of people, spiking gas prices, and creating regional chaos without any clear policy reason. This reckless approach makes us less safe, not more.
