I’m writing to you not just as one of your constituents but as someone who genuinely cares about the integrity of our democracy. Right now, that integrity feels like it is under threat. Recent news reports have raised serious concerns about possible insider trading in Congress following the stock market spike that occurred after former President Trump paused the new tariffs. The timing of certain stock trades, some apparently made just before this announcement, suggests that people with access to non-public information may have used it for financial gain. That is deeply troubling. When elected officials benefit from information the public does not have, it erodes trust in government. It makes people feel like the rules only apply to some of us and that public service has become just another way to profit. That is not the kind of country I want to live in, and I do not believe it is the kind of leadership most Americans believe in either. I am asking you to support a full investigation into these stock transactions and to advocate for a real, enforceable ban on members of Congress trading individual stocks. The public deserves to know that lawmakers are focused on serving the people, not their own portfolios. This is not about party lines. It is about basic ethics and doing what is right. Please take action to restore trust in our institutions by holding members of Congress to a higher standard of transparency and accountability. Thank you for your time and for your service.
