I am writing as a constituent to ask you to vote against the SAVE America Act and any related legislation that would impose new barriers to voter registration, including added documentation requirements that disproportionately burden married women, rural voters, low-income citizens, and anyone without easy access to a passport or original birth certificate.
I am also asking you to reject a deeply concerning tactic: using the threat of withholding presidential approval on unrelated, necessary legislation as leverage to force this bill through. Governing should not work this way. Holding the country's business hostage to extract support for a bill that makes it harder for eligible citizens to vote is not leadership. It is coercion, and it should be called out and refused regardless of party.
The action I am asking of you is simple:
Vote no on the SAVE America Act and its companion bills. Do not allow other legislation, funding, or government function to be used as leverage to pass it.
Voting is the foundation of this country's legitimacy. Anything that makes that harder, especially in the name of a problem that audits have repeatedly shown does not exist at scale, deserves scrutiny and rejection.
Republicans are embarrassing this country. Get it together.
