The attempted assassination of the president has nothing to do with any ballroom or any structure at the White House or on its grounds. If the administration is arguing that a ballroom would have prevented that, then why do they allow him to leave the White House grounds at all? Why does he make weekends trips to Mar-a-Lago? Why does he golf so frequently? Should all sporting events the president has attended be held at the White House too? All Kennedy Center performances?
Again, the White House is the people’s house, it’s not the presidents. The president is a temporary resident of our house, he is a guest. He had no right to tear down our East Wing. He must be forced to rebuild it and apologize for its destruction and the hurt that it caused.
If he wants to do something about future attempts at his assignation, he should get serious about gun control. The people do not want a ballroom built on our White House grounds and we will not tolerate our tax dollars being used to build such a ridiculous building.
