As a service member with a clearance, I am horrified at the reports regarding the Secretary of Defense and Secretary of State’s use of an unauthorized communication service to discuss classified war plans, including a journalist without a clearance or need to know. Every single basic tenant of operational security was broken in these circumstances and proves these officials have no regard for the safety of information or people. I would be swiftly punished and stripped of a clearance for far, far lesser infractions. I expect a thorough investigation and, frankly, both officials deserve to be removed from office for this level of ignorance, or worse, willful disregard for operational security and safety.
