Balanced approach needed for kids' online safety, speech protections

To: Rep. Scott

The Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA) poses significant risks to online freedom of expression and could enable censorship of critical information for teens. While protecting children is a noble goal, this broad legislation may empower overreaching regulators to suppress legal content on issues like gender identity, reproductive healthcare, and social justice under the guise of safety. We must find a balanced approach that truly safeguards youth wellbeing without compromising constitutionally protected speech. I urge you to carefully reconsider KOSA and seek input from digital rights experts to avoid unintended consequences that could ultimately harm the young people it aims to protect.
