Urgent Concern: Revocation of Emergency Abortion Protections

To: Sen. Husted, Rep. Brown, Sen. Moreno

From: A constituent in Cleveland, OH

June 4

I am writing as a concerned constituent from Cleveland, Ohio, to express my deep opposition to the Trump administration's recent revocation of the 2022 g uidance under the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act (EMTALA). This guidance mandated that hospitals provide emergency abortions when necessary to stabilize patients facing severe medical conditions. This policy change endangers the lives of pregnant women, particularly in states with strict abortion bans. By removing clear federal protections, it cre ates confusion among healthcare providers and puts patients at risk during critical emergencies. Medical decisions should be made by doctors based on pat ient health, not hindered by political agendas. I urge you to take immediate action to: 1. Reinstate the EMTALA guidance ensuring emergency abortion access. 2. Support legislation that protects women's health and upholds medical professional s' ability to provide necessary care without fear of legal repercussions. The health and safety of women should not be compromised. I trust you will stand up for the rights and well-being of your constituents.
